The Riverbanks Zoo & Garden along the Saluda River is where we spend countless spring days. My children’s faces light up every time we visit this incredible 170-acre attraction that houses over 3,000 animals from more than 350 species.

The zoo’s highlights include feeding giraffes at the African Plains, watching majestic lions bask in the sun, and observing playful gorillas at Gorilla Base Camp. The koala exhibit is always a family favorite! During spring, the 70-acre botanical garden with over 4,200 plant species becomes a photographer’s dream, with blooming flowers creating perfect backdrops.

We often rent kayaks or paddleboards to explore quiet coves or simply enjoy the sandy beaches at Lake Murray Park. The clear spring waters are perfect for swimming, and the picnic areas provide ideal settings for family meals with spectacular views.
